Charlton hears twin multimillion-dollar pitches for schools and a senior center. DCRSD Superintendent Stephen LaMarche and Finance Director Joseph DeSantis outlined an $11.18 million non-MSBA capital borrowing request for Dudley and Charlton schools, part of a $139 million facilities backlog identified by Habib and Associates, ahead of a September 29 district-wide vote. Separately, the Senior Community Center Feasibility Committee, chaired by Pat Stockwell, pitched buying and renovating the former Charlton Furniture Building for $12.5 million to $14 million, prompting a sharp exchange after Aging Director Michelle described the current 4,400-square-foot center as "a bomb shelter." The board also unanimously appointed Joel Panitude and Alani Stanley to town boards and accepted Highway Department operator Shane Gatsky's resignation.
