Charlton Board of Health rescinds July minutes, orders bottled water after fourth PFAS hit. Jim Philbrook told the board Tuesday that a well at 114 Dresden Hill Road, which had never previously tested positive, came back positive for PFAS, triggering bottled water for resident Willie Stevens Jr. and testing at three more properties. The board voted unanimously to "unaccept" its July 21 minutes after members said they did not recall consultant Gary Magnuson making PFAS-source statements the draft attributed to him.
Separately, crews closing the Flint Road landfill found a section of bedrock ledge that will not need a liner, trimming costs, though the timeline for required cover material has stretched from one year to 18 months. A code enforcement case against Joel Checker's operation at 28 Worcester Road continues, complicated by a stormwater sinkhole in the parking lot that owner Andy Wahib must fill. The next meeting is set for October 13.
