Other Committee · Meeting of July 21, 2026

Charlton Board of Health hears Flint Road landfill cleanup is on track but short on fill soil. Consultant Gary Magnuson of CMG Environmental told the board 43 of 61 tested homes remain on bottled water, five have PFAS treatment systems, and 13 are consistently non-detect. The capping contractor has delivered only about 6,000 of the roughly 30,000 cubic yards of soil needed, roughly 20 percent, with an August progress meeting to decide whether capping proceeds this year or slips to 2027 under a December 2026 contract deadline.

Magnuson said "this board has asked me many times: when can I stop the 500-foot radius?" while defending the state's strict PFAS liability rule. The board approved its June 23 minutes, scheduled an executive session on health department staffing succession for August 18, and adjourned at 6:37 p.m.
