Charlton Recreation Commission funds AED and sound system for youth football. Two commissioners present at the July 15 meeting voted unanimously to donate $2,158.95 through the commission's Amazon account to the Charlton Youth Football League for an automated external defibrillator, noting the league currently pays for an EMT at every home game. A second unanimous vote approved $5,147.99 for an outdoor sound system and wireless microphone for the league.
Commissioners also approved $2,633 in Economy Sprinkler Company repair invoices for two ball fields and agreed to add an estimated $300,000 to $400,000 Little League field-lighting request to a capital submission for the town Finance Committee. One commissioner called dugout safety repairs a priority, saying "I think that's important because of the safety item." The commission is also researching a roughly $30,000 Healthy Cities Wellness Grant for a possible outdoor fitness area at Prindle Pond.
