CHARLTON — Zoning Board of Appeals approves storage room, continues accessory dwelling case. The board unanimously granted a Special Permit to Raafat Shenoda to construct a 200 square foot storage room connecting the rear of his existing pizza shop building to an outdoor refrigerator, finding the addition would not be more detrimental to the neighborhood. The board also continued the public hearing for James and Linda Pietro's Accessory Dwelling Unit application at 39 Smith Road to April 7, 2026, after Chair Frank Lombardi questioned whether the petitioners had demonstrated sufficient legal hardship, noting that financial investment alone does not meet the zoning standard for relief.
