Zoning Board grants variance for accessory dwelling unit, continues commercial garage case.

Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of April 7, 2026

CHARLTON — Zoning Board approves accessory dwelling variance and residence reconstruction permit. The board voted unanimously to grant a variance for James and Linda Pietro's 400-square-foot accessory dwelling unit at 39 Smith Road after the petitioners revised the plan to reduce offending area. A separate unanimous vote approved a special permit for Dmytrii Moshxivskiy to remove and replace an existing structure at 48 Stevens Park Road that exceeded the scope of a previous September 2025 variance.

Building Commissioner Curtis Meskus confirmed both applications met zoning standards. A hearing on Nelson Burlingame's request to continue commercial garage use at 186 Burlingame Road was continued to May 19, 2026, pending further review of documentation.
