ZBA continues Lakeview Drive rebuild case
Charlton ZBA continues a Lakeview Drive rebuild hearing over an undisclosed deck.
Zoning Board · Meeting of September 22, 2026
Charlton ZBA continues a Lakeview Drive rebuild hearing over an undisclosed deck. The board, chaired by Frank Lombardi, heard testimony from Building Commissioner Kurt Mascis that a lakefront camp at 45 Lakeview Drive, destroyed by a fallen tree in 2022 and partly demolished without a permit in 2024, needs a special permit and 10-foot variances on both side setbacks to be rebuilt. Abutter Kim Mason said she supports the project but doesn't want it to become "one of those extra McMansions." Members balked at approving a variance for the house without seeing a roughly 12-by-32-foot deck shown on a separate building-department plan, and voted unanimously to continue the hearing to October 27 pending a revised site plan and survey.
In other business, the board reorganized, keeping Lombardi as chair and naming Jason Bibeau vice chair and Garrett LaFrance clerk, and voted to recommend Mary Beth Kaczynski as an alternate member.
