Water/Sewer Commission approves pump station upgrades and job description revision.

CHARLTON — Water/Sewer Commission authorizes $40,000 in capital improvements. Chair Robert Coleman and commissioners unanimously approved $20,000 each for upgrades to Glen Echo Shore and South Sturbridge Road pump stations through Lafleur Electric, including new electronics, pumps with variable frequency drives, and spare equipment. The commission also unanimously approved a revised Water and Sewer Foreman job description making operator certifications desirable rather than required, on motion by Clerk Erik Grotton, and approved warrants totaling $170,564.96.
A proposal to connect 32 new residential units at 35 North Main Street with projected demand of 7,000 gallons per day was tabled pending completion of a rate study and resolution of pump station and treatment plant capacity constraints.
