CHARLTON — Water/Sewer Commission appoints executive assistant and backs UV repairs. The commission unanimously appointed Calli Mathieu as Executive Assistant, pending CORI and reference checks, and approved a $4,001.75 Trojan Technologies budget for ultraviolet disinfection system sensors that are no longer functioning. Veolia's March report revealed a noncompliance letter from the state Department of Environmental Protection, leading to a corrective action plan, and several equipment failures: a caustic pump, faulty check valves at Vine Street and North Main Street stations, and a generator tank leak requiring permanent replacement.
The treatment plant reached maximum capacity at 746 gallons per minute for a week and a half during spring snowmelt, with actual flow volumes unmeasured.
