CHARLTON — Select Board opens May town meeting warrant with schools and public safety as priorities. Chairman Karen Spiewak and a four-member board (Member David Singer absent) voted unanimously to open the warrant for May 18, 2026, setting March 4 as the department article submission deadline and March 10 for warrant closure. The board also unanimously appointed poll workers through December 31, 2026; designated Barbara Zurawski as liaison to the new Bylaw Review Committee; accepted resignations from Diane O'Regan (Council on Aging) and Howard Carney (Economic Development Commission); approved utility pole installations by National Grid and Verizon New England at two locations; and granted special alcoholic beverage licenses to St.
Joseph Church Youth Ministry for two fundraisers. Residents raised questions about town parking policy effects on the Library, Library weapons-ban policy authority, and repetitive citizen petitions during Open Forum.
