Library Trustees address trust fund maturity and adopt federal compliance protocol

Library Trustees · Meeting of April 16, 2026

Charlton Library Trustees address trust fund tax issues as June maturity looms. Chair Stefan Sage will engage a tax consultant to clarify tax ID status and options for spending down and closing the Charlton Public Library Charitable Trust Fund before the CD matures on June 27. The board reviewed and approved the Program Policy with wording modifications for final action in May.

Trustees also confirmed adoption of the Cooperation with Federal Agencies Policy, passed by the Select Board on Tuesday, and recommended staff direct related questions to the town administrator and legal department; Sage requested the Select Board provide formal training for all staff, boards, and volunteers.
