Charlton Water and Sewer Commission authorizes water line before state road project. The commission unanimously approved installation of a municipal water line to 6 City Depot Road to address a fire-protection compliance issue, with the Assessors office authorized to finance the privilege fee allowing the property owner to pay over time. The urgency stems from a Massachusetts Department of Transportation paving project starting mid-July.

The commission also approved warrants totaling $177,882.54, senior abatement applications for fiscal year 2027, and a $4,650 diesel tank purchase. A motion to waive privilege fees for a Griffen Road water extension received no second, and a separate water-connection request for a pizza restaurant at 9 City Depot Road failed on a 2-2-1 vote and was deferred to August.
