CHARLTON — The Charlton Water/Sewer Commission approved staffing upgrades and waived connection fees for a Griffen Road water main extension during an August 5 meeting focused on operational planning and project preparation. Chair Robert Coleman and commissioners voted unanimously to hire an Administrative Coordinator and redesignate the Foreman position as Superintendent in preparation for upcoming water and sewer system work. The Commission also unanimously waived tie-in fees for the Griffen Road extension for ten properties, enabling owner Larry McKissick to complete installation by October 2026.

A rate consultant's analysis showed the sewer fund faces a projected three hundred thousand dollar annual deficit starting next fiscal year; Commission member Erik Grotton recommended a fifteen percent rate increase, with formal consideration scheduled for September.
