Charlton Select Board approves insurance plan change and Kitchen Coordinator appointment.
Select Board · Meeting of March 24, 2026
Charlton Select Board shifts health insurance to Mass Strategic Health Group with new deductibles to hold FY27 rates flat. Town Administrator Andrew M. Golas presented the change, approved unanimously, after the Insurance Advisory Committee voted March 16 to recommend moving from Hampshire Group to MSHG effective July 1.
Finance Director Ashley Obrzut noted the switch requires employees to absorb $500/$1,000 deductibles but preserves the zero-percent rate increase; the town will cover Hampshire claims for 18 months during transition. The board must return with a second vote after calculating mandatory employee rebates under state law. Separately, Jennifer Matromatteo was unanimously re-affirmed as Kitchen Coordinator, and Golas received an annual evaluation score of 4.79 out of 5.
